Outline

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) training is available through the SCiES team.
This training is aimed at school staff new to the role of DSL; or existing DSLs who would like to refresh themselves on all aspects of the role.

Description

The aim of this course is to provide the DSL with key information which they need in order to carry out the role effectively.

Pre-course information-Prior to attending the course participants are expected to read their school’s safeguarding documentation including policies and protocols so that they are familiar with these documents.

Post course information-Following attendance on the course the participant is expected to draw up an action plan and to share this with the Head teacher, SMT and SCiES.

Outcomes

By the end of this course the participant will have a clear understanding of their role in regard to:
  • Induction of new staff members.
  • Liaising with staff members and other agencies.
  • Recording of safeguarding information.
  • Escalation of concerns.
  • Proactive strategies.
  • Policy and protocol development.

Booking Information

This is a full day course.
Maximum Numbers: There is a maximum of 20 people for each course.
Cost: There is a charge of £120 per person for this training (this includes lunch).
