Trade Union Facilities - Academy

The TU facilities arrangement is a centrally held fund which enables Trade Union Representatives who are employed in Cheshire East Schools to be released from their roles in schools to attend meetings and support and represent members. Their school is then provided with funding from the TU Facilities Fund which pays for supply cover.

Maintained schools have agreed to contribute to this fund automatically through their de-delegated budget, and as agreed with the Schools Forum. Now that the school has converted to an Academy the school is not subject to de-delegation but is therefore required to purchase the service separately if you still require access. The amount is based on £2.95 per pupil as at October 2017 and covers the school from 1st September 2018 to 31st August 2019.

If your academy chooses not buy in to the collective facilities arrangement with Cheshire East, school teacher based TU representatives have accepted that they cannot represent any members within your Academy at any time and that any casework that arises will have to be referred to the relevant union’s regional offices.
